While I love NOS DACs (though I don't own one at present), recent implementations of 1704K DACs such as Audio-gd or, in my case Lite Audio, give substance to the idea that there is more than one way to skin that digital cat. There's a maturity to the design of these DACs that have come to fruition just as the last remaining 1704 chips have been produced.
I use I2S exclusively, and have also identified that Lite's power regeneration device could take my digital up a notch too. I also found that Audioquest Ethernet cables can make a surprising improvement to the sound, too.
Musical, propulsive and beautiful sounding, great 1704K DACs can sound majestic.
