It doesn't surprise me that you are hearing significant differences among your DACs. Both are excellent yet different. This goes against the school of thought by some that most DACs sound similar. I've had a couple somewhat pricey DACs that just didn't do it for me and a few sub $1000 DACs that I much preferred.
But the tough question for you might be, will you miss the Hex? After you've had the Audio-GD for a while you might be craving that Hex sound. ;-) But I think that is perfectly normal. I do that with solid-state and tube amps.
