Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Recording Quality

""I have been finding out that not all cd`s are equal in quality. Some do sound really good, some are just atrocious.""

ALL recordings via all media are like that, some rotten some excellent with the rest somewhere in between

"""question: how to identify good quality cd`s ?""

Like you have already done by listening

""does that question make sense?""

Sure but other than a few reviews of a few recordings sound quality doesn't often come up which is sad

""are there any "tricks" that could be done to the cd`s to increase quality? thank you.""

Not really, you can play with a few things in the digital domain and then save and burn but you can't change enough in my opinion to make a "real" difference or someone would have created a business to do that already.

My opinion is most recordings are quite lackluster at best and plain shitty at the worst. The few gems we find that are cream of the crop are part of what makes this hobby great.
