I'm not sure what you mean by "musical". From an engineering perspective, the best transport will have perfectly matched output impedance and negligible jitter. When this is achieved, you have very accurate timbre and 3D soundstaging, but not necessarily "obvious" increases in detail. Sometimes (unwittingly) people prefer the effect of high jitter because it gives the illusion of warmth.
