We have a central panel in the basement to distribute phone, ethernet and cable connections for the whole house. I just bought a cable modem, Cisco, which is what Cox uses and TW supports. Then I added a TP-Link gigibit router ( TL-R600VPN, $70) and connected a separate WiFi router to the wired ethernet in a central location in the house where it would work well.
Cox and TW will provide the telephone box for free, they only charge for the modem/router.
You can buy a combined modem/router, but they are a lot more expensive and typically only support 100Mbps versus gigibit.
