I prefer it for all the music I listen to. I remember my last A/B comparison with a well reviewed oversampling player and the latter made several recordings sound similar - similar treble balance - similar bass sound kind of flat sounding. The entry level AN one box CD player made the same selections sound quite different (though not as gentle with my lesser recordings) - it could sound warm and thick but also very thing and bright - a male singer sounded more throat than chest - another recording it was the opposite - one recording had the piano harder left another center right - the other CD player had both pianos dead center (which was interesting) and the vocalists were more the same than different. As another person noted - it was a bit taxing at times but far more interesting to listen to. I find their better digital does the same things but through better parts or whatever the refinement level improves such that the taxing elements disappear.

I found the entry players better with smaller scale than larger as well but with the upper level machines this issue goes away. Either way I would rather listen to my Beethoven 9th or Hard metal on NOS than other players in the same price ranges. I actually find them to be cleaner and clearer but less friendly than highly processed players.

Personally I'd go for a 3.1x DAC or better. But they have a new DAC technology coming which is supposed to be vastly better (and cheaper) than what they have (according to ears I trust) so we shall see. I'm holding off until then.
