Cd reading errors correction systems impact on sound.

Hi
i have found a debate about the possible impact on sound of cd reading errors correction systems.
I have one conclusion.
1st ... if there is a correction system this means that there can be reading errors ... and this is already one worrying thing.
Second if the missing data come from a calculation they could be different from the original data.
For instance i remember players that could skip a lot with damaged discs but when playing not damaged discs the sound was clearly superior to other players that with the same discs did no skip at all.
Some players simply invent data not present in the original tracks.
Am i missing something ?
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards,
bg
