IMHO M920 is still regarded as "neutral" in a sense that it would never add some warmth to the recordings. Its transparency and upper harmonics, on the other hand, are never edgy nor harsh mainly due to the "pre-ringing" and other digital artifacts have been eliminated with either S(Slow) or P(Minimum Phase) filters. F (Fast) is more similar to a traditional 24/192 DAC with a little bit more brightness and crispiness than S at the top. But traditional 24/192 upsampling DAC is usually harsh to my ears!
With M920, it very much depends on the original master. M920 won't make an analogue master sound particularly transparent nor will make a digital one sound particularly warm and lush. To me such kind of sonic signature is what M920 doesn't have.
