Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: CD Players are so yesteryear!

Or not ... depends on the player and the system.

In my recent upgrade to my digital front end, taking note of similar views here, I first tried a computer solution of laptop, Exact Audio Copy and Jriver, with a Luxman DA06 dac via USB.
Results were nothing special, even with high res downloads (and my system is high resolution, high quality).
After some more messing around with a dedicated transport and its matching dac, I have ended up with a 'so yesteryear' Accuphase DP-510 one box CD player which is simply superb. CDs on this are *far* better sounding than even high res files via the computer and dac. I'll be staying with a disc spinner (still considering the DP-720 SACD/CD player). And I'm very much staying with even more yesteryear vinyl :-)

Of course all this is subjective, and I may not have got the best of results from computer audio, so YMMV and I respect this; but the above is what I personally found.
