Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Hi Jim (off topic) ...

We've discussed many of our past experiences / reflections w/Kimber SS cables, including my obvious preference for Cardas GH5C, not only within my playback chain, but also for recording purposes.

Well, I recently decided to record using the Cardas, which meant that I had to use the Kimber with my CDP. Not only that, limited shelf space forced me to place my CDP on top of my Sony recorder, which obviously represents a highly compromised sonic platform.

Well, I figured since I was going on a long ripping session (the entire summer) this compromise would be temporary.

However, to my surprise, placing three Harmonic Resolution footers on top of the recorder, under the three DL lab cones under the CDP - well ... I'm not certain I've ever heard my CDP sound so good, and what's more important ... that certain silver "crispness" and it's overly lean disposition, two sonic issues I've always associated with SS, are far less obvious & irritating. What's even more puzzling, the entire sonic window, albeit w/much leaner tonality, is much deeper and wider.

This realization came out of left field, and although I initially considered this "recording" setup a temporary measure, I'm not so certain anymore.
