Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

I have heard the Berkeley Reference in 5 different systems

and in different contexts, and it is incredible.

My favorite was with the VAC SOTA integrated, & Verity Audio, (forget the model) speakers....

Incredibly well balanced throughout the whole sonic range: it had so much low level detail, and instrument separation, truly awesome.

I wouldn't talk to much about the actual DAC chips, they are VERY important, but don't discount the other (also very important) the clocking topology, the power supply, quality of the wiring & connectors etc.

I have seen way too many implementations of decent DAC chips, only to have the manufacturer fall down on the other important elements of the overall product. It's not how good the DACs are, - but HOW they are implemented....

Where people had paid to see inside,
For entertainment they watch his body twist
Behind his eyes he says, 'I still exist.'"
