The Rega hub is their own design. You will not find another like it unless you buy one from Rega. Most CD mechanisms use a top clamp or weight to hold the CD.
If you have the ball and spring rolling around inside the box, take the back screws out and you should be able to get the ball to come out. I doubt the original hub is repairable though.
