My Cambridge Audio CD 6 I have had for 20 years - when I bought it it was a dealer demo that was used every day for a year in the store - it had the glass case to let people see the insides. I demanded they sell me the demo model figuring if it can withstand that it'll probably last. No complaints - never had a problem, works perfectly (knock on wood).

It uses a Sanyo SF-91 which was also used in their dedicated transport version Disc Magic.
