Recently discontinued, the Moon 100D can be had for under $300. As long as you don't need balanced XLR analog outputs, this is a competent product. If you have a stiff digital cable, it may yank the lightweight Moon 100D off of the shelf. So place a small weight on top of the Moon 100D. And watch out for the Moon 100D's eye-piercingly bright LEDs.
Sonically, the Moon 100D is self-effacingly neutral. It'll tell you, in general terms, about your powerline conditioners, transports, digital cables, and line-level interconnects.
If you want more inner detail, 3D scaling of imaging, you'll have to spend more.
