I'm at ease with the IT notion that data is data. It is. Until it isn't. In other words, right up to the point where we need data to be transcoded into something else, something we call music. At which point, as many have found, the ways in which noise interferes, timing de-registers (or not) and tonal qualities vary - bite hard.
Using the I2S interface between my transport and DAC was revelatory enough, per se. Changing from the supplied CAT5 cord to a Blue Jeans CAT 6A raised a couple of eyebrows. Listening to the Vodka removes doubt that - as others have repeatedly said - in audio, everything matters. I'm at peace with that, too.
Have a listen, if you can find a loan example for demonstration.
