RE: Is there such thing as (digital) source selection and volume control in the digital domain?

Honestly I haven't.... I tried a previous DAC direct and did not care for it at all. The reason I got a DAC with variable out in the first place is because my preamp is not remote control. I'm using a Conrad Johnson Classic 2 SE driving a pair of Quicksilver Mid Monos and they sound great together. I have several analog sources as well so that kind of rules out direct connection in my set up but I wouldn't discourage trying it in a system with all digital sources.
