pressure fit. This is to say the two halves mate and you push with force and they snap together. Usually there are tabs, which you cannot see from the outside. Take a thin knife blade and pry the top and bottom haves apart.

When you get inside trace the connections from the battery terminals to the simple circuit all remotes ave with an ohm meter testing for continuity. I've fixed a dozen or so remotes and they were ALL related to connections, none of the few parts inside were bad.
