I had an issue several times with my 270 not responding to commands from the remote. The rubber buttons tend to get stuck on the edge surrounding them. However, they are easy to free up. A simple fix which I hope is your only problem.
I suppose it is possible a circuit board shifted in some way. I would be surprised though. That remote is very robust and a fall of only a few feet onto a carpet shouldn't cause such damage. Check, if you can, the wiring to the batteries. Perhaps a solder joint broke free when the battery holder moved on impact.
I do not know where you could get a replacement. Ebay might be worth a search from time to time. Also, there are several individuals who list on Audiogon willing to buy Wadia and other high end electronics in any condition and in need of repair. They may have spare remotes laying around for sale.
I hope this helps.
