Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

When is it time to call it quits

I know most people on the forum except on the vintage forum feel yesterday's high quality amp is done or close to it after 10 years. For example I have a Krell amp and it's going on 25 years old. I replace the filter caps and check everything adjust the bias every 10 years. So why not keep playing it? I see ads from time to time for McIntosh amps built in the early 70s going for top dollar and selling. I can't help thinking it's about equipment not the music. I guess I can see trying new gear but then the "old" gear is sold to the next guy. If it's an accident waiting to happen then we can't in good conscience sell it to the next guy, can we?
