A DAC is the one component where I've found almost no correlation between price and performance.... Or even the name behind it.
Heck, look at my digital source... A modified Philips CDC-935 changer.... A DAC section I'd put up against anything short of a Wadia 9......... The catch is you need to gut the stock analog output stage and put something good in its place.
The key is satisfying sound, regardless of how you get there.
