I have a multiple unit Sonos system playing in the house through mostly in ceiling speakers. Perfect mid-fi multi room system that my wife can use without complaint.
I am moving away from a dedicated PC music player, which play music odd the NAS though my system. I did consider the Wyred4Sound modified Sonos, as I have read (ie have no real knowledge of) do the high jitter in the native SPDIF output from the unit. I am sure that the re locker in the mod helps a lot. I'm sure it's DAC dependent as to whether up clocking to 96 will actually make redbook sound better. Downside is that it's only RCA SPDIF, no USB, who's is increasingly present on DACs.
Being tired of my PC halting about once a month, and having to break out keyboard and monitor to fix the computer, and resisting the suggestion to pay for another upgrade of JRiver, I succumbed to ordering an Auralic Aries. It's under the Christmas tree, and I look forward to giving it a spin. RCA, AES SPDIF, and USB input, plays all sorts of files and fezzes. Plays Tidal and others, so I hope to have some fun with it.
