Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: DAC for 16/44

I've asked this very question on a couple different forums. So, since you asked, I will tell you my opinions which are: (1)the newer hi rez low cost DACs that seem to change every month are based on software engineering designs, not audio designs; (2)listening to the various DACs in your own system is really the only way to know; (3)a dual mono design which incorporates a chip for each channel is better than a DAC with a single 32 bit chip; and (4)reducing jitter before the DAC will have as much of an impact on the sound as introducing the DAC to your system.

Personally, I'm a fan of Monarchy Audio. I think the performance to price ratio is as good as you can find in audio. I use a Monarchy Audio DIP in between my CD player and a Monarchy Audio M33 DAC.
