I know a few folk who are happy with the DACs they have but are looking for a device that will mate easily and elegantly with existing systems - without requiring huge change. I think that bridging that market with the future of digital is a fairly rich seam to mine, if managed well.

Personally, I wish it had an I2S output, to work well with my DAC, but I'm not sure if that would have been possible with the Aries. Would it?
