Digital out question

Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Is there considerable difference between digital out implementations of dedicated transport or high end CD player vs low/mid-fi player? I am eyeing a mid-fi CDP because I like some extra features, but not sure if cheap digital out implementation may affect the sound even if used with decent outboard DAC. Please chime in.
