I've only tried the Pangea AC 9 on my power amp once. Because it's only .5 M long and not very flexible, I'm limited as to where it gets used. The power amp and my REL sub are really the only logical/doable locations for its use. In its brief stay with my amp, I found it to be refined and polite. It didn't do anything wrong and was fairly even handed with a nice sense of control. On the other side of the coin, it didn't really excite either. This balance may be just the ticket for systems that tend to be a bit bright and need some smoothing out. I could see the AC 9 really at home in many ( but not all) solid state systems for instance.
In my system, which is all tube, the Cullen, MSA entry level and my DIY all silver cord with Oyaide connectors all put performers in the room more convincingly. These 3 bring more presence and transparency without sacrificing the warmth that the 9 brings to the table. Overall I'd rank the them ....DIY, Cullen, MSA and 9 in that order. Now it's only fair to point out that in a completely different system, the order could easily be reversed. All these cords have found a home somewhere either in my main or HT/casual set-up.... so there are really no losers. As always, it's just a matter of finding the right synergy for your system.
