I once played a Dell laptop in the high-efficiency system. Roughly 2 years ago. (It was a PC loaned from work.) After listening for a couple days, I switched back to the CD changer.... No comparison. The PC sounded "dull" and "boring" by comparison.
I could probably run a longer Toslink cable and hook up the Schiit DAC from my main computer to the system.... But the CD changer sounds so nice, I never really had motivation to try it.
Even at the THE Show I attended a little over a month ago, I was more impressed with the systems that ran audio from dedicated digital audio sources or from vinyl than from PCs.
