Optical.......

RFI artifacts can be picked up via airborne and conductive transmission.... Using optical connections isolates the DAC from conductive transmissions from the transport or PC. And in the case of a PC, its RFI transmissions can be a few orders of magnitude greater than from the DAC itself. Better kept in check at the PC than have it electrically tied to the DAC.

I use a Schiit Bifrost Uber outboard DAC via optical (Toslink) transmission from a PC. This is IMO the ideal setup for computer audio.
