Rajiv,
The great majority of DACs typically feature the same excellent objective technical performance, with the notable exception of jitter performance, which can vary widely. The subjective performance is a another matter, and can only be determined with your own ears, and in your own system at home. If you like the sound of the PS Audio, it would seem hard for you to go wrong for only $300.
The above advice being said, there is a class of DACs which feature quite a different sound than is typical. These are the so-called NOS (Non-Oversampling) DACs, which means they don't use a digital interpolation reconstruction filter. Objectively, they perform the worst, yet many audiophiles feel that they produce the most natural and musically relaxing subjective performance among all DACs. You can easily find examples of these via eBay for around $300. The issue here would be determining whether you like their type of sound before purchasing.
