I am not sure this makes much sense, I know one man who has invested about 100 grand in his audio. His system is before HDMI. He has a few players, which need HDMI, so, he purchased a new reveiver, Anthem, I believe, just to run in the HDMI, then he uses the 8 channel outputs to his big processor and that is all he does with the receiver, just uses it for am HDMI switching for some formats where HDMI is much more convenient.
He has an Esoteric K1, and an Accuphase dp-800 & dc-801 cd/sacd playback system; I know he has a very high dollar blu-ray, perhaps the highest? I think he runs that into the receiver an also into the video monitor.
I have a nice Oppo 105D, but he thinks that is an alright Mid-Ff player.
He is very wealthy and likes to spend money on audio-video gear.
My point is soon, there will be something where you will be able to plug your audio via HDMI and it will interface with high-end gear one does not wish to sell just to have HDMI.
