Well I was going to say given the parts availability question then why not approach the original manufacturer as they are most likely to have a stock of original parts. However that report from the Israeli engineer is pretty impressive.
So it's back to the question of the value of repair v. replacement. I guess only you can judge that as only you will know the emotional connection that you have with this machine. Of course a good replacement may cost more than $500. As you obviously like the Arcam I would not spring for another machine without the opportunity for a lengthy audition.
