RE: I have the updated version, CD-77.1

Hi,

Please allow me to clarify, the CD-77.1 introduced several changes, including different output coupling capacitors, a different digital board with hard soldered (not socketed) TDA1541A DAC and other changes (Chassis, Transformers etc.).

It also included provisions for offering an USB AND SPDIF Input (instead of the USB only CD-77), though most CD-77.1 where shipped USB only (upgrades to SPDIF are field fitable).

The sonic differences from the CD-77 to the CD-77.1 are more evolutionary than revolutionary, but the CD-77.1 is notably better in a direct, level matched AB Test.

There is no simple upgrade path from CD-77 to CD-77.1, as very few parts of the CD-77 can be retained for a full upgrade. Some owners arranged for partial upgrades though.

For any other question please contact the Distributor for your country (you can find them via the AMR Website). I would also suggest to check the history of any machine offered 2nd hand with the local distributor (as they may already have upgrades), they will need the serial number of the machine in question.

Ciao T

At 20 bits, you are on the verge of dynamic range covering fly-farts-at-20-feet to intolerable pain. Really, what more could we need?
