The transport is mechanical, and so, will suffer some mechanical wear. This is of particular concern if your transport is based on an CD drive mechanism. These are becoming very rare, as almost all new disc players are based on video drives (DVD or Blu-Ray).Rather than use your presumably audiophile quality transport, I suggest using an old player or purchasing a very cheap new player for the purpose of "burning in" your DAC. I've seen new DVD players selling for less than $50 at some of the big discount electronics stores.
