Doesnt it depend on TT, cartridge + phono pre?

You mean a Music Hall entry level TT with simple cartridge and on board phono pre in an integrated amp will sound "better" than a top notch cd transport + "hi-end" tube DAC? OK, if you say so.

But the Apples and Oranges argument must at least put comparable products against each other. I understand the purity of vinyl and have great respect for vinyl enthusiasts. But this discussion is far too broad.

With a proper combo of cdp/DAC/pre/amp driving speakers that match, I believe you can get where you want to go. However, as always, YMMV.
