I have probably read every review and post on the Ayre CX-7e and I cannot recall anyone ever saying that they preferred the sound of the 'Measure' setting over 'Listen'. Well, I do.
I actually discovered this by mistake. When I got my CX-7e last summer, I set it to 'Listen' like everyone recommended. A couple of weeks ago, I reconfigured my system and discovered that I had accidentally flipped it to 'Measure' when changing interconnects somewhere along the line. I quickly "corrected" it back to 'Listen' and I have been less satisfied with the sound since but could not figure out exactly why (I changed cabling and other things during the reconfig). Today, after reading free.ranger's thread on the sound of the MP upgrade, I decided to try 'Measure" again and, by golly, the bass is fuller and warmer and the highs are more pristine and airy. Listening at lower volume is much more satisfying.
Anyone else prefer the 'Measure' setting?
