...the combo unit, 2.1 or 3.1 in the same system, and the Audio Note absolutely smoked it. This was over five years ago, I believe. I am sure the Ayre is quite good. I am trying out the Wavelength Brick and it is amazing how good it sounds. Do not underestimate how much better things can be than the SCD-1.
