Gradofan2 has brought these "infamous" read problems up elsewhere; to wit, on headfi.org. To my knowledge, GF2 is NOT a Rega owner but is simply doing us all a good deed by warning us off these players. I too have followed the threads here and elsewhere concerning the Regas, and as an owner of TWO of the new models with ZERO problems, I fail to see why Rega, or any other of the vast majority of companies with similar policies, should offer transferable warranties. Buy a Rega new from a dealer, you're covered, and you should expect the highest level of service. Buy used, you take the chance that something goes wrong and you're not covered, but you've saved some cash on the original deal. Seems fair to me. And FWIW, on the evidence of the Rega-related threads here and on A'gon, I would STRONGLY dispute that these players are either uniformly or even generally affected with read-error or other problems -- how many is "many," anyway, Hairydog? 50%? 80%? 30%? .02%?n
