I've had an Arcam CD-73 for a couple of years that has worked flawlessly and sounds just fine. This morning a strange problem occurred that I've never experienced with any other component. I popped in the first David Grisman Quintet CD as I was having my coffee before heading out to work. I am very familiar with this music, having listened to it on LP and CD for many years. I probably listen to it at least once a week. The first tune begins with Grisman counting off, "1,2,3,4 ..." and then off we go. This morning I could barely hear his voice and when the music started his mandolin in the left channel was missing - not the whole left channel, just his mandolin. Bass and rhythm guitar were still present in the left channel. I immediately switched the CD into another player in my system and everything was fine. Back to the Arcam and the mandolin was still missing. I did this 3 or 4 times to make sure I wasn't imagining it. I've never run into this before. I understand one channel crapping out completely, but losing just some of the content from a channel? How can that happen? I'll troubleshoot more tonight but this just doesn't make any sense to me.
