How do other makers fare?

In light of all the educated posts below by Mr. Hansen, how do companies like Accuphase, Meridian, and Sony fare in these 'shared' platforms? I understood that many makers are beholden to certain transports because they can be better guaranteed that stock will be around for the future so they can honor their warranties. Do these companies make their own stuff or do they also borrow? Any other OEM companies make their own?
