Sure, it would be useful info if you're saying Sonos->Cary digital input is much inferior sounding to Cary playing same song. I'd like to know that.

But are you saying Sonos->theta DAC is worse than Cary one-box? Then that doesn't really tell me much about Cary's digital input capabilities.

Since there aren't that many great CDP's with digital input, and since Cary happens to have one, this sort of info would be very useful.
