I guess you don't hang out at the PC Audio asylum much :) No, I'm not talking about actually spinning CD's in computer internal CD ROM. In essence, I'm talking about music servers with CD's stored as lossless files on the hard drive. Digital spdif signal is generated via various means (some better than others) then feeds an outboard DAC.

Depending on how the digital signal is generated, PC Audio can absolutely rival or surpass traditional transports.

It's disappointing to see that 306 SACD Pro costs $8K; Cary digital prices seem to have taken a steeper hike than oil prices lately.
