>>In so doing they have also exposed Goldmund, Edge and even Bladelius universal players to make use of that same Pioneer DVD transport<<Oh, the horror!
Other companies using the Pioneer DVD transport (and other portions of the OEM package) have included:
- Ayre
- Bel Canto
- Integra
- Lexicon
- McCormack
- Muse
- Sim Audio
- Teac EsotericThis shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been paying attention. If you want to build a "universal" player that actually works, you are pretty much limited to using the Pioneer OEM kit, or modding an already-built player.
The only people for whom this "exposure" is meaningful are those who need to believe that their mass-market system is just as good as someone else's boutique system.
Maybe while they're at it, these magazines and websites that like to "expose" stuff can point out other stupidly obvious things like the fact that a $75,000 BMW uses the same Bridgestone tires as a $20,000 Mazda. It's a rip-off, I tell ya!
