They probably should change it to Computer audio since most people miss it.
Anyhow, do a search there. For your purposes, I would recommend Flac if you are not comfortable with computers, or ALAC (Apple lossless) if you are using mac.
Personally I use .wav files and cue sheets exclusively. A ton of regulars on the PC audio Forum use .wav. A ton use Flac or lossless to and it pretty much goes into 2 different camps.
I am a bit skeptical of lossless because while I agree that they return the exact same bits, it is still using extra processing to do so. Maybe not much but there is still more going on. I have had a few situations where Flac would pop and click even thought the PC usage was minimal. ALso, everyone seems to agree that the PC is a bad environment for an audio signal and all I am saying is that the less processing going on, the better that environment is.
Flac and ALAC do have the advantages of lower file size and tagging.
It really comes down to the number of files or albums you plan to have and what player and OS you are using. SOme players don't handle waves at all (they'll play them, but will not organize them in the library at all). What player and OS will you be using? You can get great results from a PC, but the software does matter a lot in some cases.
