Wadia 861 vs 581se

I'm considering upgrading my 861 to the new model. I understand that some of the early production models had issues and wondered if any owners out there can share their experiences. The 861 had an unresponsive remote unless it was pointed straight at the unit; has this issue been improved? Finally, when playing back red book CDs, what would be some of the gains in the new model? Thanks for any feedback...
