Yes, the dCS Scarlatti does cream the old Elgar Plus, and every other CD/SACD player I have heard. including the Meitner EMM stack, which I owned for several months. The price of the Scarlatti is appalling, however, particularly if you factor in the separate dCS word clock. But consider the new dCS one-box Puccini CD/SACD player. Haven't brought it home for comparison yet, but listening to it at Sound by Singer on the same equipment I have at home-- the VAC Phi 300i amp and Magico V3 speakers, it sounds superb. (But then, almost everything sounds superb on those speakers, and I speak as an old Watt/Puppy fan.)
