Cambridge Audio honoured a second owner warranty- months after it expired

It seems that different companies have quite different warranty policies.

I have a Cambridge Audio 640C-V2 that I acquired from an Asylum inmate in 2005- when it was about a year old. This had serious stopping / skipping problems and I got a return authorisation in September, 2007 which was about a week after the warranty expired. But, I moved soon after and the 640C didn't actually go to CA servive until February 2008- 4-5 months out of warranty. The repair unfortunately did not work and I sent it back on April 10th- and the shipping both ways will be paid by CA. It's now May and there is warranty work being done for a second owner 8 months after the warranty expired.

Of course, I'm unhappy that I've been without the 640C since last Spetember and it's been away for servive for all but two days the last three months. If I'd had to pay for this work and shipping- the 640C would be in the rubbish bin- I'd planned to make a dramatic YouTube video of the 640C getting repeatedly run over by a red Lincoln MKVIII as I arrive home with a new CDP. This is an adolescent fantasy, but it demonstrates the anger and frustration level.

But, because of the friendly and positive attitude of Audio Plus Services in Champlain, NY about the 640C, my feelings about Cambridge Audio is considerably ameliorated. After all, CD players seem to be a difficult marriage of electronics and mechanics and I've just been unlucky. As I'm thinking of a first main system (ARC SP10 > D115) CDP, the CA 840C is still on the list.
