i have dozens of Red-book CD's.. Its still the best of a situation in need of bettering,in my opinion. When I considered availability of titles and overall sound quality there was no viable alternative. Spending what I did gave me a Top Notch Red-book player with Digital input to run a DVD player and a PC Sound card thru. I had and have no plans or desire to go Multi Chanel or Computer based system so there was a very narrow band of choices. I spent far more on a CD player than I ever anticipated but I found the cash and made it happen. I also found the means to pay much more for other components than I ever expected. I think I came in near the top tier of what was possible with around $5,000.00.
