Two channel CD players: Things of the Past?

Hi every one.

I posted "recommendation for cd player under $500" and many of you gave me excellent recommendations. Thanks. I spend all weekend shopping around for a cd player. I found only one: Cambridge audio. It sounded good. But, I could not locate others such as Marantz, NAD, and such. All the big stores are turning to DVD/CD combo players. They don't even carry cd players anymore. I feel like 10 years of digital technology went straight by me! Wow! Is it wise to buy CDs anymore? Or for that matter should I even buy a two channel cd players? Hmmm.
