I think the DAC1 is great BUT I find it to be VERY transport and cable sensitive.

Meridian:
I used a G91 into the DAC1. The 91 was a reasonable sounding CD spinner, the DAC1 was no improvement over the machines internal DAC - which didn't do a lot for me.

Denon:
Used the top DENON DVD player. Similar to the Meridian, but not as good.

Naim:
The DVD5 is a pretty good CD player - makes a great combination with the DAC1, startlingly good. Using the Stereovox dig cable makes it even better.
