So far it has been 24 hours.
I was playing with various ways to connect Wadia, the best sound I got out of it was when I connected Wadia directly to the amps.
When I was going through preamp, the soundstage was a small bubble between speakers, with uncontrolled LF, incorrect tonality in entire frequency range, and very artificial synthetic HF.
With Wadia directly to amps, soundstage is significantly better, I can now hear the space where performance took place.
Imaging is very good, lots of spatial clues.
I cannot really blame preamp for it, other DACs had no such issues, I guess it comes to synergy.
With Wadia directly into amps, I am satisfied with the following:
Soundstage
Imaging
Tonality in mid / lower mid range (voices, violins, pianos sound good)
Dynamics and speed
I am dissatisfied (very) with the following:
Lack of LF, there are aspects of performance in well known pieces that are completely missing (e.g. Chesky’s Grandma Hands, I guess everyone is familiar with this one, I do not hear at all the guy stomping on the floor).
LF sounds (what is left to be heard) are separate from the rest.
HF still remains very artificial and synthetic, extremely unnatural and unpleasant, this is the biggest problem.
