The Zoom is a fun little gadget for making quick, on the spot recordings. It's a great little sketch pad for musical ideas. It's easy to use, small, way portable, goes anywhere, etc. It's easy to move the sound files to your computer after the fact too. That makes it easy to organize each recording and burn them to CDRs to distribute to your friends in the choir. The sound quality is actually decent for the money. Not high end audio, but decent enough if you can get a good sound level to it.
It ain't no iPod though. The iPod is probably the easiest way to enjoy prerecorded music on the go. I would get an iPod for that purpose. They're both cheap enough that you can get one for each purpose and not drive yourself crazy.
